Instagram is one of the most widely used social media platforms globally, with millions of active users. Instagram Reels are particularly popular in regions where TikTok is not available or has been banned. The company is constantly working on improving user experience.

In line with this, the social media app has introduced a new feature. Now, you can comment on Instagram Stories. Previously, you could only reply to stories, and that option remains available.

When you replied to someone's story, the message was private and went directly to the user, whereas comments will be public. In recent times, the usage of Instagram Stories has increased, prompting the company to add this feature. This shows Instagram's efforts to boost user engagement.

Earlier, comments on stories were received in DMs, but Instagram has now added a feature for comments on stories. Just like stories are visible for 24 hours, comments on the stories will also be visible only for 24 hours. This feature has been rolled out and will soon be available to all users.

Instagram spokesperson Emily Norfolk mentioned that users will have the option to turn off comments on their stories. Only users who follow each other on Instagram can comment on each other's stories, meaning not everyone will be able to comment on your stories. It is not yet known whether comments will be visible in the archive after the stories expire.

Earlier this year, Instagram introduced a new feature called Disappearing Notes that appears on grid posts and Reels. These notes function like comments, disappearing after three days. Users can choose who can see their notes.

These temporary notes appear above posts, making friends' comments more prominent. Instagram also announced that some posts will show Likes as floating hearts, similar to what is seen on Disappearing Notes.
