The Foreign Minister is currently on a six-day tour of the UK and Ireland, during which he discussed the policies of U.S. President Donald Trump.

Jaishankar mentioned that President Trump's government is advancing towards multipolarity, aligning with India's strategic interests. Both countries acknowledged the importance of establishing a bilateral trade deal.

During an evening event at Chatham House in London titled 'India's Rise and Role in the World,' Jaishankar was asked about the early weeks of the Trump administration and his opinion on reciprocal tariffs. He responded by highlighting a dynamic administration that promotes multipolarity, which aligns with India's preferences.

Jaishankar explained that from President Trump’s perspective, the Quad partnership, comprising the US, India, Australia, and Japan, is substantial, presenting a favorable model for both nations.

He noted that Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal is in Washington, likely discussing a bilateral trade agreement.

There have been extensive discussions on tariffs, and both nations have agreed on the need for a bilateral trade agreement. When asked about India's role in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Jaishankar stated that India is among the few countries actively engaging with both Russia and Ukraine on multiple levels. He assured that India would take action whenever it deems feasible to contribute positively to the situation.
