A 27-year-old Indian student, Venkatraman Pittala, tragically lost his life in a severe jet ski accident last Saturday in Florida. A native of Telangana, he was pursuing a master's degree at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).
Raising Funds to Send Remains Home
A GoFundMe page, set up to transport his remains back to Telangana, reveals the accident occurred on March 9. Venkatraman was set to graduate this coming May. The page details, 'He died following a collision between two jet skis.'
Collision Near Waterpark
According to a WPLG Local 10 news report, the accident happened near a waterpark in Key West. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reported the deceased student was operating one of the jet skis involved in the collision.
The Commission has not disclosed any arrests and confirmed that the other individual involved in the collision was not injured. Venkatraman passed away on March 9, just prior to completing his studies in May.
