Northeast Railways' Record During Chhath Festival: Over 125,000 Passengers Traveled in One Day

Amidst the festive rush, Indian Railways is actively managing extra festival special trains. Particularly, 248 Puja Special trains operate, with Northeast Railways achieving a record by managing 195 trains in a day, transporting over 125,000 passengers.

In view of the Chhath festival and to facilitate devotees, Indian Railways is running 248 Puja Special trains. Northeast Railways has set a record by operating 195 trains in one day, transporting over 125,000 passengers safely to their destinations.

Northeast Railways Sets a New Record

Chief Public Relations Officer of Northeast Railways, Pankaj Kumar Singh, noted that the Chhath festival has commenced, prompting large crowds to travel to and from their hometowns. To ensure a smooth journey for passengers, 248 Puja Special trains are being run, covering 1666 trips. If a passenger misses their train, another is readily available. A detailed signboard at the station displays train arrivals and departures.

Special Arrangements at Gorakhpur Railway Station for Passengers

Major stations have been equipped with passenger holding areas. At Gorakhpur, there are five substantial holding areas, complete with three display boards and a PA system to minimize passenger inconvenience. The arrangement within has improved for a comfortable experience, coupled with enhanced security measures.

CCTV cameras are installed in holding areas, with continuous monitoring via a control room. Areas known for Chhath Puja celebrations have lookout portions for horn control. Millions have arrived from Purvanchal and Bihar to celebrate Chhath. Thus, immense emphasis is laid on passenger comfort and safety.
