The initiative to bolster India's maritime borders commences with the cutting of plates for 14 Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) and 6 Next-Gen Offshore Patrol Vessels (NGOPVs). These vessels are earmarked for the Indian Coast Guard, marking the beginning of their construction journey.
The ceremony took place at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, aligning with the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' mission, ensuring these vessels are wholly indigenous, equipped with homegrown technology. The project has a total outlay of ₹2684 crore and promises cutting-edge technology, incorporating drones for advanced surveillance capabilities.

The vessels will feature AI-driven superior decision-making abilities and an Integrated Bridge System (IBS) for exceptional maneuverability, alongside an Integrated Machinery Control System (IMCS) for operational efficiency. These state-of-the-art ships will dramatically enhance the Coast Guard's capabilities, ensuring maritime safety.
The plate-cutting event was graced by the Shipbuilding Director of MDL, Principal Director of Materials from Coast Guard Headquarters, and the Superintendent of the Coast Guard Refit and Production Team from Mumbai. MDL guarantees that the vessels supplied will be world-class, entirely indigenous.
