The Indian government has passionately raised this issue with Moscow. According to the Foreign Ministry, post the death of the Indian citizen from Kerala, India has reiterated its demand to Russia for the swift release of Indian nationals recruited by the Russian army.

Official Statement from the Ministry of External Affairs

Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal conveyed on Tuesday, 'We've received information about the unfortunate passing of a Kerala-based Indian citizen, reportedly recruited for service in the Russian army.' He further stated, 'Another Indian from Kerala, recruited under similar circumstances, is currently injured and being treated in a Moscow hospital.

Efforts Underway to Repatriate the Mortal Remains

Jaiswal mentioned that the Indian embassy in Moscow is in close contact with the families of both affected individuals, offering all necessary assistance. 'We are working closely with Russian authorities to ensure the swift return of the deceased Indian's remains to India,' Jaiswal added.

'We have also requested the expedited discharge and return of the injured individuals to India,' he stated. 'Today, this matter was emphatically presented to Russian officials in Moscow as well as at the Russian embassy in New Delhi.' The spokesman emphasized that India has reiterated its demand for the prompt release of any remaining Indian citizens enlisted in the Russian army.
