The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of India, General Anil Chauhan, has affirmed that our military must always be ready to respond to any misdeeds by Pakistan. He made it clear that challenges posed by Pakistan have seamlessly integrated into our daily preparedness routines.
During a session at Delhi’s Manekshaw Centre, General Chauhan shared his views. He highlighted how Pakistan's military forces and terrorist organizations collaboratively try to threaten India, but India will not keep quiet any longer.
He asserted, “We must carve out more space for conventional military operations that lie between unconventional and nuclear alternatives. We are ready to challenge Pakistan's policy that proposes limiting the use of nuclear weapons from minimal to maximal levels.”
General Chauhan emphasized that the Indian Army must be on alert at all times, every day of the year. He also pointed out that in contemporary times, the distinction between war and peace has blurred and seems to be merging.
He expressed, “We must develop the capability to target fixed and mobile targets from great distances.”
Nuclear Policy and Technological Advantage
The CDS mentioned that reliance on nuclear doctrine in military policy has now become the new norm. Furthermore, it's crucial for India to maintain a technological edge over adversaries.
He stated, “We need to swiftly adopt disruptive technologies, reconsider traditional military structures, and prioritize coordination between the armed forces—army, navy, and air force.”
