In the wake of recent floods in Sikkim, Army Engineers from the Trishakti Corps supported BRO and local administration efforts to reinstate connectivity in the cut-off regions, overcoming relentless rains and technical hurdles to construct a 70-foot Bailey Bridge over the Dikchu-Sanklang road. The floods had disrupted road communication across various areas of North Sikkim.

In light of the reconstruction efforts, Army engineers commenced construction of the Bailey bridge at Dat Khola on the Dikchu-Sanklang axis. The work commenced on June 23 and was completed within an incredible span of 72 hours amidst challenging weather conditions. This bridge serves as a critical link enabling vehicular movement from Dikchu to Sanklang towards Chungthang.

Expected to be a lifeline, the bridge will facilitate the provision of basic necessities, including significant medical assistance, to the residents of Mangan district. State Forest Minister and Disaster Management Secretary Pintso Namgyal Lepcha appreciated the Indian Army's swift efforts to complete the bridge during his site visit on June 27, 2024.
