Sig Sauer CEO Ron Cohen announced that the world’s second-largest army has placed a repeat order for these rifles. This is a matter of pride for us. Once delivered, the Indian Army will have over 145,000 Sig Sauer 716 assault rifles.
These rifles are being deployed to soldiers stationed at forward posts on the China and Pakistan borders. Due to its features, this gun was inducted to counter terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.

With the induction of this rifle, the older INSAS rifles will be phased out as they use 5.56x45mm rounds. In contrast, the Sig-716 uses more potent 7.62x51mm rounds.
The Sig-716, manufactured in the USA and Switzerland, is an automatic assault rifle with a long range and 100% accuracy. It can also be used for sniper attacks. The overall length of the rifle is 34.39 inches, with a barrel length of 15.98 inches. It weighs 3.58 kilograms.
