India triumphed in a two-match Test series against the West Indies, winning 2-0. Following the series win on Tuesday (October 14), Head Coach Gautam Gambhir shared his thoughts on various topics. He also gave his opinion on Shubman Gill's captaincy, as well as his own coaching journey.
Head Coach Gambhir stated, "As a captain, he (Shubman) meets every challenge. Making him captain wasn’t a favor; he fully deserves it. Before Shubman, I required a mental conditioning coach for myself."
Overall, through his actions and words, he has earned everyone’s respect. Coach Gambhir appears satisfied with Shubman's leadership up to this point. It is noteworthy that Shubman Gill will also lead Team India in the upcoming ODI series against Australia.
Following the whitewash of the West Indies, Gambhir also discussed the team's coaching. He remarked, "I will only be recognized as a good coach when the team performs well. A coach's capability is judged by the results of his team."
Regarding the WTC Final, Gambhir noted, "Shubman has passed one of the toughest tests as a Test captain in England. Current performance is important to focus on; 2027's (WTC Final) still has time."
