What Role Does NITI Aayog Play?

NITI Aayog, the National Institution for Transforming India, operates as the top-notch public policy think tank of the Indian government. Its milestones include a "15-Year Roadmap," the "7-Year Vision, Strategy, and Action Plan," AMRUT, Digital India, Atal Innovation Mission, and initiatives in medical education and agriculture reforms.

Formed in 2015 by the NDA Government to replace the Planning Commission, NITI Aayog shifts from a top-down to a more distributive and inclusive model. The Central Cabinet decided to disband the Planning Commission on 13th August 2014, with a cabinet resolution on 1st January 2015 to replace it with the newly formed NITI Aayog. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the first meeting of the NITI Aayog on 8th February 2015.
