The Zapad-2025 exercise, taking place in Russia from 1st to 17th September 2025, involves over 20 nations, including India, Iran, Belarus, Bangladesh, and Tajikistan. Observers include Pakistan, China, and Cuba. This marks the first occurrence of India and Pakistan participating in such a setting since Operation Sindoor in May 2025, albeit in separate groups.

In Zapad-2025, Russian and Belarusian forces will train with nuclear weapons and advanced Orieshnik missile systems. Belarus' Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin emphasized that this exercise is key for the military security of both nations. From 12th to 16th September, the final phase will include air defense and anti-sabotage drills. For India, this event represents an opportunity to display military capability and enhance strategic ties with Russia.
