India's First Rapid Train Arrives in Meerut from Sahibabad: Travelers Share Their Experiences

India's first rapid train, Namo Bharat, successfully covered the distance from Sahibabad to Meerut in just 30 minutes on Monday. This achievement, a milestone for Indian Railways, delighted the residents of Meerut. 'Aajtak' gathered reactions from Meerut's people about the train.

Ashish, a resident of Meerut, mentioned that his marriage took place in Ghaziabad ten years ago. Since then, he has been traveling with his wife to Ghaziabad on Raksha Bandhan day. This is the first time his wife reached Ghaziabad without any traffic. Ashish believes Meerut will greatly benefit from this in the future.

Ashish's wife, Pooja, added that earlier it used to take 2 hours to reach Ghaziabad, requiring them to leave a day before Raksha Bandhan. This time, they returned on the same day and expressed their gratitude to the government for this gift. The travel experience has been excellent.

Mohammad Ayub, traveling on the train for the first time, expressed his thrill and satisfaction. He remarked on the excellent speed and cooling of the train. Ambuj Kumar, training to become a sub-inspector, commented that earlier traveling from Delhi to Meerut took several hours. Now, this travel time is significantly reduced, saving a lot of time and providing convenience without any hassle.

Rahul Gupta, traveling with his family, shared his experience, stating that traveling on Namo Bharat is comparable to Delhi Metro. He had booked a cab that didn’t show up, so they opted for the train instead. Some passengers felt the ticket fares were high, leading to a minor debate, but Rahul’s wife pointed out the savings on cab expenses.

Sakshi, traveling with her kids, mentioned that she is from Modinagar and married in Delhi. She came to Modinagar to tie Rakhi to her brother. The travel has become so much easier, especially with kids. Earlier, they had to change multiple buses. Now, reaching home is simplified.

Harsh said that people will greatly benefit from this service, saving both time and money. He also mentioned that new companies would open in Meerut, further boosting economic prospects. Traveling to Delhi has become very convenient, with a journey time of just 30-35 minutes. There is no traffic or jams, and the trains are very comfortable with minimal noise.

Namo Bharat Reaches Sahibabad from Meerut in Just 30 Minutes

The Namo Bharat train departed from Meerut Railway Station on 18th August 2024 at 2 PM and reached Sahibabad within 30 minutes, covering a distance of 42 kilometers at a speed of 160 km/hr. The train operates through Meerut South, Modinagar North, Modinagar South, Muradnagar, Duhai Station, Ghaziabad, and finally Sahibabad. The operation of this train has immensely pleased the residents, who have expressed their gratitude to the government.

It’s noteworthy that the RRTS corridor now operational includes 42 kilometers from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad to Meerut South, encompassing a total of 9 stations.

The Namo Bharat trains operate from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM for passengers. The first train departs at 6:00 AM, and the last train leaves from Sahibabad and Meerut South terminals at 10:00 PM. The one-way fare from Sahibabad to Meerut South in standard class is Rs 110/- and from Ghaziabad to Meerut South is Rs 90/-.

Here are the Amenities Provided

Meerut South RRTS Station features the largest parking facility in Uttar Pradesh's RRTS corridor, enhancing passenger convenience. Two parking areas, located on either side of the station's entry/exit, cover approximately 13,000 square meters, accommodating around 1,200 four and two-wheelers, along with dedicated parking for auto-rickshaws.

The station is designed for easy pick-up and drop-off for vehicles arriving from both Meerut and Delhi, providing direct access from the main road. It includes accessible features such as parking areas and ramps for differently-abled passengers.

Meerut South is the first station in the Meerut area, serving regions like Mohiuddinpur, Bhudbaral, Bahadurpur, Aminagar, Chajjupur, Kharkhauda, and Kadrabad. With the opening of this station, travel for residents in these areas has become significantly simpler, allowing them to reach Sahibabad in around 30 minutes via Namo Bharat train.

Along with RRTS trains, the station will also cater to local metro services. It comprises three platforms with three tracks: two for Namo Bharat trains and one for metro services. The station has three levels: Ground, Mezzanine, Concourse, and Platform, with dimensions of approximately 215 meters in length, 36 meters in width, and 22 meters in height.
