In Trying Times, China Pledges Support to Pakistan, Strengthening Bonds Amid India-Pakistan Tensions

Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zhiyong met with Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday, expressing China's steadfast support to Pakistan to ensure peace and stability in South Asia. This meeting comes at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated following the Pahalgam terror attack. According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Zhiyong discussed various issues with President Zardari, including growing tensions between India and Pakistan.

Concerns in Pakistan Over India's Actions

During the meeting, President Zardari expressed concerns over India's recent steps following the severe Pahalgam terror attack. He mentioned that such actions threaten regional peace and stability.

Notably, the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22 led to the death of 26 individuals, most of whom were tourists. This incident has further strained the relations between India and Pakistan.

India's Firm Commitment to Decisive Action

India has recently banned goods imported from and transiting through Pakistan, and Pakistani ships have been prohibited from entering Indian ports. Prime Minister Narendra Modi affirmed that India is dedicated to taking 'tough and decisive' measures against terrorism and its proponents.

China Assures Aid to Pakistan

Previously, India had suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, closed the border at Attari, and reduced diplomatic ties with Pakistan. According to Radio Pakistan, the Chinese Ambassador emphasized the longstanding, 'iron-strong' trust and friendship between China and Pakistan, noting that both countries have stood together through difficult times.

Ambassador's Meeting with Shehbaz

The Ambassador stressed that 'China will always support Pakistan to achieve the shared goal of peace and stability in South Asia.' On Thursday, the Chinese Ambassador also met with Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, expressing gratitude for China's support for an impartial investigation into the Pahalgam attack.
