RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat expressed on Thursday that India remains committed to the principles established by our ancestors, aiding countries that have previously engaged in warfare against us. He remarked that although India had the option to retaliate against Pakistan's provocations during the 1999 Kargil conflict, the government directed the army not to cross the border. Bhagwat made these remarks while addressing a Jain community event where spiritual leader Acharya Mahashraman was present.

He stated that India's unwavering commitment to these guiding principles leads the nation to support countries facing crises, even if they have waged wars against us in the past. 'We do not initiate attacks, nor do we tolerate aggression,' he remarked.

The Restraint of the Indian Army During the Kargil Conflict

Bhagwat highlighted, 'India had the option to respond to Pakistan's aggression during the Kargil conflict. However, our military was given explicit instructions not to cross the border, focusing only on addressing threats within our boundaries.'

Discussing surgical strikes and airstrikes inside Pakistan, he elucidated that India acted with precision, targeting only disruptive elements. The RSS chief noted, 'When we struck deep into their territory, we did so with restraint and specific targets, avoiding a broader assault on Pakistan.'

Tactical Responses by India

India conducted surgical strikes across the Line of Control in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in September 2016. Additionally, in response to the Pulwama terror attack, the Indian Air Force executed an airstrike in Balakot, Pakistan, in February 2019. Although Bhagwat did not provide specific examples of current issues facing India or the world, he expressed confidence that the people of India will ultimately resolve every problem.

He assured, 'Despite the prevailing concerns about the future due to current circumstances, there is no need to fear. We will address all these issues, and the world will take inspiration from us and improve itself.'
