On Tuesday, Pakistan's Army General Asim Munir was elevated to the esteemed rank of Field Marshal for his role in the recent conflict with India. He is only the second top military officer in the country's history to earn this title. Locked behind bars, former Prime Minister Imran Khan took a jibe at Asim Munir.

Imran quipped, "General Asim Munir should have crowned himself as a 'King' instead of a Field Marshal because, currently, Pakistan is under a lawless regime."

Imran and PTI's Vocal Critique of Shehbaz Government

Imran Khan argued that over the last three years, Pakistan's moral and constitutional framework has completely deteriorated. Since August 2023, Khan has been imprisoned over multiple charges. During his tenure as Prime Minister, tensions simmered between him and Asim Munir. After actions were taken against Khan, leaders of his party, PTI, also faced numerous actions. PTI leaders recently questioned military operations during tensions with India in Parliament. Currently, it is former PM Imran Khan who dares to challenge the tandem of General Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

'If Truly Concerned About Pakistan...'

On social media, Imran Khan noted, "Mashallah, General Asim Munir has been made Field Marshal. However, naming him 'King' would be more appropriate as the jungle rule is apparent – and in a jungle, there is but one King." He also dismissed rumors of a deal, labeling them as baseless lies, asserting that no negotiation or arrangement has been made.

Nevertheless, Imran openly invited the military to negotiate with him if they truly care about Pakistan's interests and future.

Imran Khan emphasized, "The country is grappling with external threats, a spike in terrorism, and an economic downturn. We must unify. I have never asked for anything for myself, nor will I."

He warned the Shehbaz Sharif administration of another potential attack from India, urging preparedness for such scenarios. He stated that Pakistan is now a place where laws apply selectively to the weak.

Describing the current situation, he expressed that democracy's true essence is being crushed. He argued, "When you send the message that the bigger the thief, the higher their position, you bury justice. NAB is still pursuing cases against the (President) Asif Zardari's sister concerning properties registered under employees' names, with no one daring to question her presence abroad. Shehbaz Sharif was accused in a 22 billion PKR money laundering case, yet he was appointed Prime Minister."

Imran mentioned, "A ludicrous hearing in the Toshakhana-2 case has reopened. Like prison, court proceedings adapt to a colonel's whims. My sisters and lawyers are barred from attending court, associates are kept from visiting me, my children are withheld from seeing me for months, books are not delivered, and I'm denied access to my doctor. This is a relentless breach of court orders and laws."

He added, "Drone strikes killing innocent civilians do not quell terrorism; they fuel it. After years of conflict, we successfully halted US drone operations in Pakistan. If you claim to stand against terrorism, refrain from bombing your own people’s homes."
