Kolkata Police have apprehended a Bangladeshi national from the Park Street area on charges of illegal residency and fabricating documents within the country. The arrest transpired on Thursday based on confidential intelligence from Collins Lane.

According to news agency reports, the accused hails from Narail, Bangladesh, and had been residing in a rented property in Kolkata’s Khidirpur since 2023. During his stay, he procured a counterfeit Aadhaar card and PAN card using a North 24 Parganas address.

Recently, another Bangladeshi national, armed with forged documents, was arrested near the Marquis Street area close to Park Street. These incidents have spotlighted the operations of syndicates involved in counterfeit identity document creation.

A police official stated that investigations continue to uncover the syndicate responsible for creating these fraudulent documents. Interrogation of the arrested individuals aims to divulge details about other members and their networks.

Previously, Assam Police detained eight terrorists from a banned Islamic terrorist organization, arresting two in the Murshidabad district of West Bengal.
