The countdown to the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has begun. The highly anticipated tournament is set to take place from June 1 to June 29 across the USA and West Indies. The ICC has geared up for the event and recently announced the commentary panel.
Dinesh Karthik to Make Commentary Debut at World Cup
The elite 40-member commentary panel will include the star wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik. Karthik, who played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the latest IPL season, is rumored to be stepping away from the next IPL. Following a match against the Rajasthan Royals, the 38-year-old Karthik received praise from Virat Kohli and his RCB teammates. However, Karthik has not formally announced any retirement from the IPL.
Besides Dinesh Karthik, the commentary team will feature India's Harsha Bhogle, Ravi Shastri, and Sunil Gavaskar. Icons from Pakistan such as Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Ramiz Raja will also lend their voices to the World Cup. American commentator James O'Brien is also part of the lineup.
