In a grim turn of events, P Gurumurthy, a former soldier, has been arrested in Hyderabad for the horrific act of murdering his wife after a dispute. He allegedly dismembered her body, ground her bones into powder, and disposed of the remains through the toilet. This gruesome crime was uncovered by the Hyderabad police on Tuesday, following a thorough investigation.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner Sudheer Babu described the crime as 'one of the rarest of the rare' and 'barbaric.' Gurumurthy confessed to committing the heinous crime against his wife, Madhavi (35). He reportedly cut the body into small pieces, boiled them, and then incinerated the remains before grinding some bones into powder. Before committing the crime, he left his children at a relative's house.
Boiling the Remains, Incinerating on Stove
Commissioner Babu detailed that on January 16th, Gurumurthy had a heated argument with his wife, during which he hit her head against a wall. After she collapsed, he strangled her to death. To conceal his crime, he dismembered the body, placing the parts in a bucket, boiled them using a water heater, and finally burned them on a single-burner gas stove.
Grinding Bones to Powder, Flushing Evidence
The accused then used a stone roller to grind the bones into powder, disposing of the mixture and tiny flesh particles in the toilet, flushing them several times. He kept some residue bones in the household trash for later disposal, masking the odor by keeping the doors and kitchen windows open. Throughout the ordeal, no one suspected a thing.

Commissioner: Beyond Crime, It's Barbarism
On January 16th, from morning until evening, Gurumurthy executed this ghastly act and then thoroughly cleaned the bathroom to erase any evidence, using detergents and phenyl. Expressing shock, the Commissioner stated, "It's hard to fathom how anyone could behave so barbarically. It's one of the most unusual methods of committing murder."
Scientific Evidence Gathered, Presented in Court
The Commissioner confirmed that scientific evidence has been collected to be presented in court. Gurumurthy worked as a security guard at a defense establishment. On January 18th, following a missing person's complaint by her in-laws at Midhani Police Station, an FIR was filed. During questioning, Gurumurthy confessed to the murder and dismemberment of his wife's body.
Delhi and Gujarat Forensics Experts Assist
Hyderabad Police enlisted the help of forensic experts from Telangana, Delhi, and Gujarat for this high-profile case. They decided to involve experts from other states to uncover any potential traces of blood or evidence of body disposal at the crime scene. This unique case stands out as a first in recent years, where a suspect was caught, but evidence initially seemed elusive.
