Voters will cast their ballots on April 19 for the first phase, with subsequent phases on April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, and May 25, with the final phase on June 1. The results are scheduled to be announced on June 4. The Election Commission has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting fair, independent, and secure elections. Nomination submissions for the first phase will be accepted until March 27, with verification on March 28 and the deadline for withdrawal on March 30.
These states to vote in the first phase
In the first electoral showdown, Tamil Nadu will see 29 constituencies go to the polls; Rajasthan 12; Uttar Pradesh 8; Madhya Pradesh 6, with Uttarakhand, Assam, and Maharashtra each having 5 constituencies. Bihar will have 4; West Bengal 3; with Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, and Meghalaya each hosting 2, and single constituencies voting in Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Jammu & Kashmir, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry.
Integrated Control Rooms established
The Election Commission is beefing up security, especially in sensitive states and constituencies likely to see disturbances. Integrated Control Rooms are being set up in every district that will operate round-the-clock. Sensitive polling stations will feature webcasting amenities. In compliance with the commission's guidelines, police stations are collecting licensed weapons within their jurisdiction and keeping a vigilant watch on individuals with criminal backgrounds.
