This morning (July 24), Delhi-NCR has been witnessing a continuous downpour. The heavy rain has resulted in waterlogging in some parts of Delhi and Noida. While the rain has provided relief from the sweltering heat, it has also caused inconvenience as flooded streets have slowed down vehicular movement.

In fact, with the waterlogged roads, office-goers might face traffic snarls during the morning rush hours. The weather department predicts that light to moderate rain and drizzle will continue in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and nearby areas over the next few hours.

Although this rain might cause a bit of hassle for those commuting to offices in the morning, it has brought relief from the humid heat. Delhi-NCR has been reeling under muggy conditions for several days, and this morning brought a spell of heavy rain.

Additionally, the weather department has predicted very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and eastern Rajasthan today. According to Skymet, a cyclonic circulation is present at lower levels over northeast Rajasthan and adjacent southern Haryana. Moreover, the monsoon trough, which is currently south of its normal position, is likely to shift north towards Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi/NCR.

The combined effect of these systems will accelerate monsoon activity. This intensified activity will mainly cover Rajasthan, partly Haryana, and minimally Punjab. Delhi/NCR, being near this system, will experience some monsoon rain, ending the week-long dry spell.
