AAP has released its first list of candidates for the Haryana Assembly elections. This list includes 20 candidates. The announcement was made while talks with Congress about a possible alliance were still ongoing.
The party has fielded its state vice-president Anurag Dhanda from the Kalayat seat. Additionally, senior leader Indu Sharma has been given a ticket from Bhiwani.
AAP's Haryana state president Sushil Gupta announced earlier today that if no agreement is reached by this evening, the party will release the names of candidates for all 90 assembly seats. The last date for filing nominations for the Haryana elections is September 12, and voting is scheduled for October 5.
Congress Candidates Faced Competition from AAP
AAP has fielded candidates in 11 constituencies where Congress had already announced its candidates. These constituencies include Uchana Kalan with Pawan Fauji, Meham with Vikas Nehra, Badshahpur with Beer Singh Sarpanch, Narayangarh with Garpal Singh, Samalkha with Bittu Pehalwan, Dabwali with Kuldeep Gadarana, Rohtak with Bijender Hooda, Bahadurgarh with Kuldeep Chikara, Badli with Ranbir Gulia, Beri with Sonu Ahlawat, and Mahendragarh with Manish Yadav. Congress had already declared its candidates in all these constituencies.

According to sources, the discussions between AAP and Congress failed because the Aam Aadmi Party was demanding double-digit seats, i.e., 10 or more, whereas Congress was only ready to offer at most 3 seats.
Ongoing Discussions About Alliance
It is noteworthy that Congress and AAP had been engaged in lengthy discussions regarding an alliance for the Haryana Assembly elections. Even on Sunday, Congress' Haryana in-charge, Deepak Babaria, and AAP's Rajya Sabha MP, Raghav Chadha, had a meeting. Following the meeting, both leaders had indicated that an alliance would be finalized soon. However, during a media interaction, Deepak Babaria mentioned that the alliance discussions would be settled within the next two days. But with AAP announcing its candidates now, the hopes for an alliance seem bleak.
