Kali Puri, Executive Editor-in-Chief and Vice Chairperson of the India Today Group, expressed during the Harper's Bazaar Women of the Year Awards 2024 that women are achieving success on their own terms. The awards ceremony celebrated women's strength and their remarkable achievements.

In her address, Kali Puri remarked, 'Women have always been perceived as needing to emulate men to succeed in a man's world, but a transformation is underway. Women are now advancing on their own terms. This change is gradual yet inevitable.'

Opening her speech with a nod to famous singer Taylor Swift, Puri recounted, 'I had the opportunity to attend her concert at Wembley this year, which was a true display of female empowerment. Ninety thousand women, strangers to each other, singing and exchanging friendship bracelets. It was more than a concert, it was a movement.' She regarded Swift as a symbol of women's power and success, illustrating how a woman could embrace her emotions and still be triumphant.

Puri pointed out societal shifts regarding women's success. 'Historically, we built environments fostering male success without creating the same for women. However, things are changing. Business schools now educate on Emotional Quotient (EQ), and fathers are requesting paternity leave.'

She further conveyed that the Harper's Bazaar Women of the Year Awards epitomize this shift. Celebrating a legacy of 157 years, the brand has amplified women's voices. 'Today, we honor unique accomplishments by women, not just in the 'female category,' but recognizing those who stand out in any gender-neutral world.'

This ceremony lauded 18 women. Puri remarked, 'These awards celebrate the strength and extraordinary achievements of women. We listen to them, support them, and remain by their side in their journey to success.'

A new tradition commenced this year, where each award winner celebrated another woman's achievement by presenting the award, creating an 'Inspiration Chain.' Puri hoped this chain extends the message of empowerment and inspiration beyond today's event.
