A startling revelation has come to light about the recent road accident in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh. An auto, meant for just 4 passengers, was crammed with 14 people and speeding on the state highway. Suddenly, a biker on the Bilhaur-Katra highway made an abrupt right turn, forcing a trailing fast-speed DCM vehicle to hit the brakes. The DCM tilted on the road, and just then, the overloaded auto came from the opposite direction.
Trying to avoid a crash with the DCM, the auto driver applied the brakes but lost control due to the overloading, causing the auto to overturn. The high speed made the auto strike the DCM as it overturned. The scene erupted in chaos after the accident, and most of the passengers in the auto suffered severe head and chest injuries. Their bodies lay bloodied on the road, and the auto was left in pieces.

14 Seated in Space for Four
The auto that met with the accident on Wednesday on the Bilhaur-Katra state highway had a seating capacity for just four passengers. Still, the CNG-fueled auto packed with 14, including the driver, sped down the highway. Despite the traffic month, none of the responsible authorities noticed the overloading of the auto. Moreover, the place from where the auto picks up passengers is located within a short distance from the police station and the main station, yet the practice of stuffing the auto with passengers continued unabated.
Notably, the auto involved in the accident had faced fines (13,000 rupees) before for carrying extra passengers, yet overloading did not stop, leading to the loss of 11 lives and serious injury to the auto driver himself. A relative of the driver was among the deceased.
