Monday's torrential rain in Delhi-NCR brought Gurugram to a standstill. Streets were submerged, and traffic gridlock gripped the city. In such conditions, the metro seemed to be the only refuge for many, but this relief soon turned into a crisis.

A video from Gurugram's Sikanderpur Rapid Metro Station was shared on Instagram. It claims the incident occurred on the night of Monday, September 1, around 8 PM. The footage clearly shows thousands thronging the station, pushing and jostling.

The uploader noted — 'Delhi-Gurugram has never seen such a crowd. The condition from Sikanderpur Station to DMRC was such that any more influx could have led to an unfortunate incident. Everyone was gasping for breath, and so was I.'

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Delhi-NCR on Tuesday, September 2, predicting moderate to heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, Gurugram's district administration has proactively declared holidays for all government and private schools. Schools are instructed to conduct online classes, and companies are urged to facilitate work-from-home options for employees.
