The ongoing Mahakumbh in Prayagraj reported another fire incident. In Sector-22 of the Mahakumbh, fire broke out engulfing numerous canopies, but the fire brigade swiftly brought the situation under control. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in this incident. As yet, the exact cause of the fire remains unidentified. Authorities have appealed to the public to keep calm as investigations are underway.
Reports indicate that the fire completely destroyed 15 tents. Upon receiving the alarm, the fire department was instantly notified. Despite initial access challenges to the site, the team arrived promptly and extinguished the blaze, averting any major mishap.
Fire department official Pramod Sharma stated, "We received a report of a fire in 15 tents within the Chhatanag Ghat police zone today. Immediate action was taken to subdue the flame. According to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, these were unauthorized tents. The situation remains controlled, with no injuries recorded."
Previous Fire Incidents Have Occurred
It is worth noting that two previous incidents of fire have been recorded. In one instance, Sector 2 of the Mahakumbh witnessed a panic when fire engulfed two vehicles. Thankfully, there were no injuries, and fire brigade staff efficiently managed the situation on-site.
Earlier on January 19, another fire incident occurred in Sector 19 of the Mahakumbh, where flames caught on hay stored inside a camp, consuming approximately 18 camps. Again, fire brigade personnel managed to control the blaze promptly, resulting in no casualties.
