The ADJ Rape and POCSO Special Court in Prayagraj has handed down a significant directive in the case of sexual exploitation allegations against Jyotish Peeth's Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati. The court has instructed the Jhunsi Thana police to file an FIR against Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati and his disciple Swami Mukundanand Giri and begin a thorough investigation. Swami Avimukteshwaranand has called the allegations fake. He has demanded swift legal proceedings.
ADJ POCSO Court's Directive
ADJ POCSO Act judge Vinod Kumar Chaurasia stated in his order that a formal investigation should be conducted against both accused. Following the court's direction, an FIR will now be registered at the Jhunsi police station, initiating further proceedings. It is believed that this order could pose challenges for Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati.
What Did Swami Avimukteshwaranand Say?
In response to the allegations, Swami Avimukteshwaranand defended himself, labeling them as fabricated. He asserted that the truth will soon become apparent. Avimukteshwaranand claimed that a false lawsuit had been filed against him. He urged the court not to delay and to start proceedings soon. He revealed that the accuser is a known offender with records in various places and is a disciple of Ram Bhadravacharya, suggesting the allegations do not stem from outsiders. Avimukteshwaranand concluded, "We will face this; we're not like Yogi Adityanath to remove charges easily." He voiced his distrust in police investigations and called for a higher-level probe, while also stating his intent to cooperate with the investigation.
Petition Filed Under Section 173(4)
On January 28, related to Shakumbhari Peethadhishwar and Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Mukti Nirman Trust, Ashutosh Brahmachari lodged a petition under Section 173(4), seeking FIR registration. He accused the ashram of Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati of sexual exploitation of minors. Brahmachari also claimed to have submitted a CD to the court regarding this matter.
Minor's Statements Recorded
On February 13, the statements of the two accusing minors were documented in court with videography. The court took the police report into account and, after a full hearing, reserved its decision. Now, the court has issued the order for filing an FIR.
Ashutosh Brahmachari Satisfied
Following the court's order, Ashutosh Brahmachari expressed his satisfaction, stating he has received justice. He announced his plan to embark on a Sanatan journey on foot from Prayagraj to Vidya Math Varanasi to illuminate the truth among people. He alleged that the exploitation of minors occurred at Vidya Math itself.
