In Haryana's Faridabad, the incessant rains resulted in the tragic death of an HDFC bank manager and cashier on Friday night when their XUV700 got submerged in the flood waters under the Old Faridabad Railway Underpass. Aditya, a colleague at the bank, recounted that Viraj Dwivedi worked as a cashier at HDFC's Sector-31 branch in Gurgaon, while Punyashrey Sharma was the bank manager and also the president of the bank union.

Aditya further explained that due to the recent heavy rains, Viraj was dropping Punyashrey Sharma in the bank manager’s XUV700. Sharma resided in Omaxe City, Greater Faridabad, where Viraj was supposed to stay over before heading to Delhi the next morning. However, as they approached the Old Faridabad Railway Underpass, they encountered a significant water accumulation without any barricades in place.

Viraj, being a resident of Gurgaon, was unfamiliar with the flooding severity of the underpass. He attempted to navigate through the water, but the car's engine shut down, and the lock engaged as the vehicle filled with water, resulting in their tragic deaths. Aditya shared that around 11:30 PM, the bank manager’s wife contacted him, worried as their phone was switched off.

Bank manager’s wife informed Aditya that their phones were unreachable. This prompted both the bank manager's wife from Faridabad and their colleagues from Gurgaon to start searching for them. Upon reaching Faridabad, they encountered police officers who informed them that a car had got stuck in the water-filled underpass and both individuals inside had tragically passed away.

Aditya mentioned that if there had been police barricading, they might not have attempted to drive through the flooded underpass, and this grave incident could have been avoided. Sub-Inspector Rajesh stated that around 11:30 PM, there were barricades and caution boards in place near the underpass.

Despite police warnings and barricades, they allegedly forced their way through, resulting in their vehicle being caught in the water and subsequently filling up, leading to their deaths. Currently, both deceased bodies have been sent for post-mortem at Badshah Khan Civil Hospital's mortuary, and police are continuing with further legal procedures.
