Amidst a political storm, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal becomes the center of a health-related tug-of-war. AAP officials claim Kejriwal is being denied his essential insulin dosage in jail, which they say threatens his life. In response, LG Vinay Saxena has released a statement that tells a different story.
According to a statement from the LG's house, the report provided by Tihar Jail administration to LG Saxena reveals the fabricated tale AAP has been spinning based on treatments from a private clinic in Telangana.
LG reports indicate that Kejriwal was undergoing insulin reversal therapy, and his doctor had ceased his insulin doses well before his arrest. The LG took to task the health claims made by AAP and sarcastically remarked that, despite the alleged robust healthcare system in Delhi, Kejriwal resorted to covert treatments down South, which he could not substantiate with medical reports.
Report by LG Vinay Saxena reveals:
01.
Arvind Kejriwal was being treated by a private doctor from Telangana, who had stopped the insulin. Kejriwal was on the anti-diabetic drug, Metformin.
02.
During a medical check-up at Tihar, Kejriwal informed the doctors he had been on insulin for several years but discontinued a few months ago upon the advice of a physician from Telangana.
03.
A medical report from RML Hospital places no advice or necessity for insulin for Kejriwal. His health was reviewed on the 10th and 15th of April, and he was recommended tablets for diabetes. The claims of denying him insulin at any point during his treatment have been denied.
04.
After examining Kejriwal, specialists stated that his blood sugar levels are not concerning and does not require insulin currently.
In a worrying twist, Tihar Jail administration requested a diet plan for Kejriwal from AIIMS. AIIMS correspondence revealed Kejriwal's dietary habits which included sweets, fritters, fried foods, salty snacks, and other cholesterol-laden treats. LG highlighted this in his statement.
AIIMS also developed a diet plan for Kejriwal that prohibited the consumption of certain foods such as:
1.
Fried foods like puri, paratha, samosa, and sweets like cakes and chocolates.
2.
Fruits like mangoes, bananas, and grapes.
3.
Vegetables like potatoes.
4.
High-fat items like ghee, egg yolk, and full-cream milk.
AAP's Reaction to LG's Conspiratorial Claims
AAP responded to LG's statement with high concern. Aatishi Marlena stated, "Tihar's report to BJP showcases a conspiracy. Any doctor can tell you a 300 sugar level is dangerous. There's a plot to kill Kejriwal in jail as per BJP's direction. Why is the administration hesitating to provide insulin? Kejriwal's been on it for 12 years."
