Israel, often supported by America, generally enjoys a warm reception in Europe. However, its fierce military strategies in Gaza have sparked outrage on the continent. Enraged by the ongoing devastation, several European countries, including France, are preparing to officially recognize Palestine. When French President Emmanuel Macron expressed interest in visiting Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government bluntly refused, stating there’s no room for Macron in Israel.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar conveyed this message to his French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot during a phone conversation on Thursday. He asserted that Israel would not host the French head of state as a protest against France’s move to recognize Palestine.

Saar reiterated to Barrot that France’s persisting efforts, which he believes harm Israel’s interests, leave no place for Macron in Israel.

The Israeli minister argued that acknowledging Palestine would undermine Israel's security and highlighted that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is not considered a reliable negotiating partner.

Previously, Israeli state broadcaster Kan reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu personally rejected Macron's brief visit proposal ahead of the upcoming United Nations General Assembly session. An anonymous Israeli official disclosed to Kan, 'We won't allow Macron to play both sides.'

Macron plans to advocate for the recognition of a Palestinian state during the General Assembly later this month. Furthermore, he has called for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and the release of Israeli hostages. Netanyahu strongly objects to Macron's decisions, arguing it would fuel anti-Jewish sentiment. Yet Macron dismissed Netanyahu’s claim.

European countries and the United Nations are urging Israel to permit more humanitarian aid in Gaza. Since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, Israel has exercised significant military force over Gaza.

These operations have resulted in the deaths of over 64,000 Palestinians thus far. Despite widespread criticism, Israel remains resolute and is set on taking full control of Gaza.
