Who is responsible for Atul Subhash's demise? Hearing this name may not ring a bell for some, but behind it lies a deeply tragic tale. A 34-year-old AI engineer from a private company in Bengaluru, Atul Subhash, ended his life in a heartbreaking act of desperation at his home. Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, he left behind a 24-page suicide note and a 90-minute video alleging harassment and false accusations from his wife and her family.

In his note, Atul expressed, "I refuse to pay and instead choose death. For I will not allow my money to be used by my adversaries to torment me and my family. Let my ashes be cast away in a gutter outside court."

This heartbreaking question arises: in a society that champions women's rights vociferously, what about the rights of men? Will Atul, who found no justice in life, find it in death? Will the judicial system introspect to prevent another soul like Atul from facing such despair?

Family Shattered by Son's Death

Atul accused his wife of filing numerous cases against him and demanding 30 million rupees. Atul Subhash held a prestigious position as DGM of Artificial Intelligence at Mahindra and Mahindra Company in Bengaluru City.

The family is devastated beyond words by his tragic choice, with his mother and brother inconsolable. Though suicide is indeed a crime, Atul's actions beg the question: what drove this learned man to make such a drastic decision on September 9th?

9 September – The Heartbreak:

Atul Subhash, overwhelmed by the constant legal battles and demands, takes his own life, leaving behind a detailed account of his grievances.

Atul's father, Pawan Kumar, said, "He spoke of how those in the mediation court did not adhere to legal norms, failing even the Supreme Court's protocols. He had to journey between Bengaluru and Jaunpur at least 40 times. His wife would level one accusation after another. He may have been disheartened, but he never showed it. Then suddenly, news of his death reached us. He emailed our younger son at around 1 AM. The claims he made about his wife and her family are undoubtedly 100% true. We can't convey the extent of the stress he endured."

Marriage in 2019

Atul donned a T-shirt with the words 'Justice Is Due' during the tragic event. A nationwide debate ensues on who will bring justice to Atul Subhash Modi, but foremost, he blames his wife, her family, and the justice system in his long note and video. Married in 2019, he alleges his wife accused him of dowry harassment and unnatural offenses shortly after their wedding.

He claimed she demanded a hefty alimony of 30 million and didn't allow him to see their child’s face. After her father passed due to illness post-wedding, they filed a murder FIR against him. According to Atul, family court negotiations came with a request for a five lakh bribery. Over two years, he attended court 120 times, facing accusations that even led his wife to mockingly suggest suicide in a court hearing.

Defeated by Wife and System?

Atul's tale raises harsh questions: did he capitulate to the overwhelming pressures from his spouse, in-laws, and the judicial framework? He narrates how his wife even barred him from meeting their son. He left a parting gift for his son to open when he turns 18, a gesture laden with love amidst his turmoil.

Before taking this drastic step, Atul recorded an 80-minute video on Rumble elucidating his agonies. As the video circulates online, Atul is heard lamenting how his earnings empower his foes, who plot against him meticulously using the same funds. He stressed the need to end such a vicious cycle.

Custody Sought for Atul’s Child

Police investigations unveiled underlying marital strife, with a case lodged against Atul by his wife in Uttar Pradesh. Atul's suicide note, distributed via email to various contacts and on an NGO's WhatsApp group, contained a poignant plea for his child’s custody to be granted to his parents, emphasizing the values they instill.

His Final Act

Details emerged from a police call at 6 AM on December 9th, revealing Atul’s tragic choice of a nylon rope to hang himself from his bedroom ceiling fan. His family in Uttar Pradesh received the devastating news, and his brother, Vikas Kumar, reached the scene. Vikas recounted how false charges from Atul’s wife and her family led to unfathomable demands and deep depression, ultimately causing Atul’s demise. An FIR has been lodged at Marathahalli Station under the BNS Act sections 108 and 3(5) as investigations continue.
