Enemies Across the Border Will Be Obliterated in Moments, Army to Gain Power of Pralay Missile at the China-Pak Border

The Indian Army is preparing to include the Pralay ballistic missile with a range of 400 kilometers. Shorter-range versions already exist. If this missile is included in the army, a large area of China and Pakistan will be within its range. Let's dive into the power of this missile...

The Pralay Missile is a short-range ballistic missile (SRBM). In December 2022, approval was received for 120 missiles for the Air Force. Following this, in April 2023, approval was granted for two units comprising around 250 missiles to be included in the Indian Army's rocket force.

In September 2023, the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) permitted the establishment of an Army regiment for these missiles. Approval for one more unit containing 120 missiles is still pending. Ultimately, a total of 370 missiles will be added to the army. The Pralay Missile can target both surface-to-air and surface-to-surface.

The Pralay Missile's range is between 150 to 500 km, with a speed of 1200 km/hr that can be increased to 2000 km/hr. This means as it descends towards its target, its speed escalates. China has a similar Dongfeng-12 missile, while Pakistan possesses the Ghaznavi, M-11 (from China), and Shaheen missiles.

Close-Range Advantage

The advantage of its short range is that it can effortlessly destroy enemy bases near the border. In December 2021, the missile was tested twice in 24 hours. Deploying this missile near the China and Pakistan borders will keep both countries in check. Firing it from close to the border can quickly dismantle bunkers, artillery, military bases, or weapon depots in China or Pakistan.

Accuracy and Speed: The Deadliest Combination

What makes the Pralay Missile exceptionally deadly is its accuracy and speed. Weighing 5 tons, it can carry conventional warheads weighing between 500 and 1000 kg. The technology of three different missiles—Prahaar, Prithvi-2, and Prithvi-3—has been utilized in its making.

Capable of Night Operations

The Pralay Missile can also execute night attacks. This infers that it is likely equipped with an infrared or thermal scanner aiding in nocturnal strikes on China's bases. The missile operates on an inertial guidance system and uses solid propellant fuel. Its warhead can be equipped with high explosive, penetration, cluster munitions, fragmentation, thermobaric, and chemical weapons.

Devastation Within 33 Feet Radius

The launching vehicle used is an 8X8 TATA Transporter Erector Launcher. Pralay has a target accuracy rate within 10 meters or 33 feet. Thus, even if it hits within a 33-foot radius of the target, it will cause the same level of destruction as hitting the target precisely. This ensures the intended area is effectively neutralized.
