Social media platform formerly known as Twitter, now X, is developing a feature designed to connect users with adult-oriented content. This means users will be able to join groups or communities focused on mature themes.
Adult content has been sporadically visible across social platforms, but no service has ever promoted it. As of now, X has not officially released any information about this feature.
According to reports, users who create
communities
for adult content will find options in the settings to label their content accordingly. This insight was shared by Daniel Buchuk, an analyst tracking app developments. Posts without appropriate labels may be filtered and removed. X might keep these communities private and integrate an age verification process.
Current policies at X restrict graphic media, adult nudity, and sexual conduct from users under 18 years of age. In fact, such media is hidden from those who haven't added their birth date on their profile.
Screenshots suggest users failing to label their content appropriately may risk having their content removed. X is considering keeping such communities private and may even add an age verification step.

X's senior software engineer Dong Wook Chung revealed on Thursday that the aim of these new labels is to make the platform safe for all. Such content will only be visible to users who have confirmed their age. A spokesperson for the social media company confirmed Chung's employment but declined further comment.
