Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bharadwaj today made significant allegations against the Election Commission during a press conference. He claimed that the Election Commission is functioning like BJP's troll army, spreading confusion deliberately to malign opposition leaders.
He mentioned an amusing incident yesterday where Rahul Gandhi held a press meet explaining the submission of an online deletion application. Within half an hour, the Election Commission declared online deletion isn't feasible. Why is it not possible? Form-7 is available online; you submit the form, and the application is sent.
AAP leader pointed out that the Election Commission now insists online applications can be filed but deletions cannot be processed online as deletion requires an official's intervention. So, why is it not possible for other processes like online passports, licenses, or death certificates? Online is just the initial step for application.
Bharadwaj explained that when applying for a license online, it requires a related official to judge your driving, which means the process isn't just virtual. So, understanding how the Election Commission is playing this troll-like game is necessary.
He continued, alleging that the Election Commission's statement aimed to discredit opposition leaders, enabling social media trolling to trivialize issues. Bharadwaj stated,
'The Election Commission is currently acting like a troll, providing BJP's troll army with ammunition. A constitutional body should not engage in such practices. India’s Election Commission behaving like social media trolls is disgracefully inappropriate.'
