Previously, gold weighing 54 kilograms and cash amounting to 110 million INR was recovered from Saurabh Sharma and Chetan's vehicle. This led to extensive raids conducted by the ED at premises across Bhopal, Gwalior, and Jabalpur, uncovering documents related to assets worth crores. These were duly seized by the agency.
The ED reported finding a fixed deposit of over 60 million INR under the name of Chetan Singh Gaur, Saurabh Sharma's associate. Over 40 million INR in bank balances were also located under the names of Saurabh's family members and related companies, alongside documents of immovable properties worth over 230 million INR. Details of this operation were shared by the ED on the social media platform X.
Diaries Could Reveal More
Sources recently indicated diaries retrieved from Saurabh's locations contain transaction records worth approximately 970 million INR till December 2024, currently under examination. All documents and diaries remain sealed for now, with a three-member investigation team led by DSP Virendra Singh set to delve deeper into the case.
Petition Filed in Bhopal District Court
In a bid for anticipatory bail, a petition was filed in Bhopal District Court on behalf of fugitive Saurabh by his lawyer. The lawyer stated he wasn't aware of Saurabh's current location, but had traveled from Gwalior to Bhopal following concerns from Saurabh's mother. The fear of a potential encounter has been cited as a reason for urgency.
It's noteworthy that on the 19th of December, initial raids were conducted at the residence and office of former RTO constable Saurabh Sharma by the Lokayukta, followed by further actions on the 27th by the ED at his and his relatives' properties in Bhopal, Gwalior, and Jabalpur.
