Shehzadi, from Banda district in Uttar Pradesh, has been sentenced to death by a Dubai court over the alleged death of a child. During a call, Shehzadi shared the harrowing news with her family, and since then, her parents' tears have been unending. Her parents are fervently appealing to India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to intervene and save their daughter.
Shehzadi, currently incarcerated in a Dubai prison, conveyed in a phone call to her father, 'Father, this might be my last call. I've been moved to a different room, and further calls might be impossible.' Her last call left her elderly parents in despair, and they have shared the recorded conversation with others.
Originally from Goyara Mugli village, Banda district, Shehzadi was reportedly lured into a relationship by Uzair, a young man from Agra, through Facebook. In 2021, under the guise of undergoing facial plastic surgery, she was sent to Dubai to stay with his relatives.
At the household where Shehzadi stayed, a tragic incident occurred when their child suddenly became ill and passed away. Two months later, the parents accused Shehzadi of being responsible for the child's death, leading to a murder charge. Post-investigation, the Dubai court pronounced a death sentence on Shehzadi. Currently housed in Albatwa jail, she holds on to hope as her elderly parents request Indian intervention to save her. Her recent phone call has left her parents sleepless.
Shehzadi's father, Sabbeer, recounted receiving her call late Saturday night, around midnight, where she remarked on the switch in rooms and the possibility of execution. The fellow inmates told her to make a call home before being potentially silenced.
Her father pleads, 'I urge the Indian government to save my daughter. Since her phone call, we've had no updates. Execution might have occurred by evening or morning. We spoke for nearly 10 minutes, longer than previous calls, often lasting no more than 7 minutes. The case seemed to have settled before the sudden death sentence. My daughter is innocent and trapped falsely. She's been imprisoned for two years in Dubai. I've appealed everywhere - to the President, Prime Minister, and External Affairs Ministry to save her. She was residing with Nazia and Faiz.'
