Chaos erupted outside the Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Abohar, on Tuesday with gunfire from external elements during a clash between two student factions. Three named suspects were promptly arrested by police in the case, informed SSP Dr. Pragya Jain upon receiving the tip-off.

The culprits attempting to flee after the incident were pursued by police teams almost 30 kilometers before being apprehended. The three young individuals, Mukesh Kumar, Jatin Kumar, and Harish Kumar aka Harry, were taken into custody. Weapons, including a .32 bore pistol, an empty shell of the same caliber, two swords, and a bullet were recovered from them.

SSP shared that Mukesh Kumar is a farmer, while the other two work as laborers. All three have a criminal background. Mukesh and Jatin already face charges in Khuyiansarwar and Thana Sadar stations, respectively, while Harish has an ongoing case in Thana Bahaowala and Sriganganagar. They are set for thorough interrogation while under police remand. Abohar DSP Arun Mundan, Station Head Navpreet Singh, Special Cell's Navdeep Sharma, and other police personnel were present during the briefing.

Dr. Jain clarified that Guru Nanak Khalsa College was not involved in the incident. A dispute between two parties over leadership outside the college premises led to outsiders being called in. The college administrative committee has contributed significantly in resolving the case.

Chairman of the College Management Committee, S. Daljit Singh Sandhu, extended full support to the police in this matter. Although the entire event occurred outside the college, it had no involvement with the college itself.
