On Wednesday, former US President Donald Trump reaffirmed his claim of preventing eight wars, including a nuclear conflict between India and Pakistan. He made a startling disclosure during his 'State of the Union' address, stating that he saved 35 million lives by halting India's Operation Sindoor. Trump claimed that Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif told him that without his intervention, 35 million people would have perished during Operation Sindoor last year.
This statement by Trump signals Pakistan's retreat against India during a four-day military conflict in May 2025. Trump elaborated in his address, 'In my first 10 months, I stopped eight wars, including one that could have been nuclear between Pakistan and India. Pakistan's Prime Minister told me that without my intervention, 35 million lives would have been lost.' Trump made these claims while highlighting his achievements during his first 'State of the Union' address of his second term.
Trump Claims to Have Halted Eight Wars
The conflicts Trump claims to have resolved include tensions between Israel and Hamas, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, India and Pakistan, Serbia and Kosovo, Rwanda and Congo, Armenia and Azerbaijan, and Cambodia and Thailand. India has consistently refuted Trump's assertions of playing a role in the ceasefire between the two nations during the four-day conflict with Pakistan. When asked about Trump's role in stopping the conflict, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar humorously denied it.
India Consistently Rejects Trump's Claims
When asked about the US role during the military conflict with Pakistan, Jaishankar cryptically replied, 'The US was in the United States of America.' His answer implied that America had no active role in the India-Pakistan ceasefire. India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri also dismissed any third-party intervention in the ceasefire. He stated, 'The Director-General of Military Operations (DGMO) of Pakistan contacted his Indian counterpart via the hotline and requested the conflict's end, resulting in a ceasefire agreement between the two countries.'
