Two vehicles were halted in Shimla, while a third one was stopped near Dharampur in the Solan district. Sources claim that approximately 15 to 20 individuals, including police personnel, were detained. However, no official response has been issued by the Delhi Police regarding the entire episode.
This incident is linked to the 'Shirtless Protest' conducted on February 20 at Bharat Mandapam. The high-profile international event witnessed a substantial attendance of dignitaries and delegates. In the aftermath, vigorous action was initiated by the police, slapping rioting charges under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Police operations were driven by the collected inputs and technical surveillance, revealing that the arrested individuals were orchestrating and supporting the protest. Previously, Indian Youth Congress President Uday Bhanu Chhib and former national spokesperson Bhudev Sharma were also apprehended.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed his views on the incident, terming it 'unfortunate' and against constitutional procedures. The affair has now taken a political turn, raising questions about the coordination between Delhi and Himachal Police.
