The Caribbean island nation of Dominica has announced that it will bestow its highest honor upon Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This recognition acknowledges Prime Minister Modi's significant assistance to Dominica during the COVID-19 pandemic, strengthening the partnership between the two nations.
Prime Minister Modi will receive this prestigious award from Dominica's President Sylvanie Burton during the India-CARICOM summit scheduled from November 19 to 21 in Georgetown, Guyana. Notably, in February 2021, Prime Minister Modi dispatched 70,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine to Dominica, helping save lives not only in Dominica but also among its Caribbean neighbors.

While announcing the honor, Dominica emphasized that the award also acknowledges India's support to Dominica in healthcare, education, and information technology under PM Modi's leadership.
