An alarming road accident occurred on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway where a driver, succumbing to sleepiness, lost control of his speeding car, leading to a capsize incident. Roughly 11 days after the accident, a video surfaced online and is now viral. It is reported that in this incident, an elderly woman lost her life and 5 were seriously injured, requiring hospitalization.
On June 8, a family from Gujarat was traveling from Delhi towards Jaipur. Mahesh, the driver, was at the wheel with his wife, two children, and mother-in-law, Shanta Ben. Near Somağa village in the Bandikui area, near pillar number 165 on the expressway, Mahesh dozed off and lost vehicle control.
The car descended into the median plantation zone between the expressway's lanes, flipped over seven times in a rapid succession—all within 12 seconds. In the calamitous event, Shanta Ben lost her life, and other passengers sustained grave injuries. A patrolling team responded to the accident scene and hospitalized all injured parties. Due to the severity of their conditions, they were later referred to a hospital in Jaipur.
The investigating officer Bharat Lal stated that Mahesh and his family had left Delhi for Jaipur around 7 AM. He suddenly fell asleep at the wheel. The car, driven at high speeds, veered off-road and overturned. The family was in Delhi as part of the children’s educational trip. Following the accident, the car was kept at a toll plaza.

The viral video shows a white-coloured sedan speeding down the highway, closely followed by a truck. The car suddenly switches lanes, veers off the highway into the bushes, and flips. Thankfully, the car did not collide with any other vehicles, averting a more significant catastrophe.

It is important to note that the expressway has witnessed several fatal accidents, some taking the lives of prominent business persons. There was an accident involving BJP leader Manavendra Singh's car on this expressway, which tragically resulted in his wife's death. Not too long ago, at the same spot, a bus overturned, leaving many injured. Following that incident, a video recording of the accident also went public.
