In the national capital, Delhi, it is expected that today, Thursday, clouds will partly cover the sky with a chance of light rain in the evening. The weather department mentioned that on Wednesday, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 8.4 degrees Celsius, which is 1.5 degrees below average. This is expected to drop to 7 degrees Celsius today. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature could reach 23 degrees, recorded 22.4 degrees Celsius yesterday, which is 2 degrees above average.
Dense Fog in Delhi Late Night and Early Morning
From December 26 to 28, dense fog is predicted in Delhi late at night and early morning. It will also be partly cloudy, with chances of light rain in the evening or night. In the mornings, the main surface wind is expected from the northeast at a speed of less than 4 km/hr. Most areas will experience fog and moderate mist, with some places encountering dense fog.
Wind Speed Increase
Later, the wind speed will increase, coming from the north-northwest direction at less than 8 km/hr during the afternoon. In the evening and night, the wind speed will reduce again, blowing from the north at less than 4 km/hr. There will be haze and light fog during the evening and night. On Christmas Day, Delhi's air quality remained in the 'very poor' category. The 24-hour Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 4 PM was 336, indicating a very poor state.
Air Quality 'Very Poor'
Today's situation is similar. As of the 6 AM update, the average AQI was recorded at 343, remaining in the 'very poor' category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi's air quality marked its third consecutive day in the 'very poor' category, after having previously been in the 'severe' category.

How is Air Quality Measured?
If an area's AQI falls between zero to 50, it is considered 'good,' 51 to 100 is 'satisfactory,' 101 to 200 is 'moderate,' if an area's AQI is between 201 to 300, it is considered 'poor.'
