The Delhi police have launched a massive crackdown on vehicle thieves. In a special operation that spanned a week, they recovered 22 stolen two-wheelers, consisting of 10 motorcycles and 12 scooters. This significant operation resulted in the arrest of 16 individuals including six minors. The investigation revealed that the gang used stolen vehicles to carry out snatching and robbery incidents across the city.

During this operation, early morning police teams nabbed suspects cruising on stolen scooters in the Shastri Nagar and Inderlok areas. Through extensive questioning and raids, the operation unearthed Ram Tiwari as the mastermind of the gang. According to the police, this gang even involved minors in their criminal activities. One of the minors was so skilled that he could effortlessly break the handle lock of any two-wheeler.

The investigation uncovered that most of the accused were addicted to drugs. They targeted deserted areas and unguarded parking spots, selling the stolen vehicles at low prices to sustain their addiction. These very vehicles were also their escape route after crimes. As part of this operation, vehicle thieves around the Kashmiri Gate and Sadar Bazaar areas were also apprehended.

Moreover, vehicles stolen from government hospitals and residential colony parking zones in Burari and Timarpur were recovered. Police disclosed that one of the arrested individuals was a known offender wanted in previous theft cases. Delhi Police affirmed their commitment to continuing such operations to curb the rising vehicle thefts and dismantling these syndicates thoroughly.

It is noteworthy that last month Delhi Police also busted a high-profile gang operating in a cinematic style, stealing luxury cars. The mastermind of that gang was identified as Amandeep Singh from Amritsar. While stealing cars from Delhi and taking them to Punjab, the police pursued him. During the chase, he attempted to ram police personnel with a Fortuner car.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Nidhi Valsan informed that on July 29, an Innova car theft was reported from Pandav Nagar. The investigation named Amandeep Singh, linked to an organized gang that stole expensive push-start cars. On the night of August 11, as he was heading to Punjab with a Fortuner car, the police chased and apprehended him in the act.
