The central government has given the green light for two additional metro corridors in Delhi. Union Minister Anurag Thakur announced on Wednesday that these projects are sanctioned, which will cost around 8,400 crores INR.

According to the latest details, an 8.4-kilometer line will extend from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block, featuring eight stations. Similarly, another line, running from Indralok to Indraprastha, will measure approximately 12.4 kilometers. This phase of the metro development is slated for completion by March 2029.

Minister Thakur further stated that the central cabinet has approved the phase IV project for the Delhi Metro's new corridors — from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block and Indralok to Indraprastha. The estimated combined project cost for both corridors is Rs 8,399 crores, which is to be funded by the central and Delhi governments alongside international funding agencies. These two lines will add up to 20.762 km of rail.

The Indralok-Indraprastha corridor will extend the Green Line and provide interchangeability with the Red, Yellow, Airport, Magenta, Violet, and Blue lines. The Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block corridor will connect to the Silver, Magenta, Pink, and Violet lines.
