Recently, in response to the fake threatening emails received by some schools in Delhi, the Home Secretary assessed the situation. He emphasized the necessity for comprehensive protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to tackle any such future occurrences efficiently.

The Home Secretary urged Delhi Police and schools to maintain an effective response mechanism to avert unnecessary issues caused by misinformation. He highlighted the importance of enhancing security at schools, regular CCTV monitoring, and supervising emails vigilantly. The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary and the Delhi Police Commissioner.

Email Threats Sent to Schools Across Delhi-NCR

On Wednesday, May 1st, over 80 schools in Delhi and Noida received bomb threats via email. Schools were swiftly evacuated, and children were sent home as a precautionary measure. Among the schools that received these threatening emails were prominent institutions such as DPS Dwarka, Mother Mary Mayur Vihar, Sanskriti School New Delhi, DPS Rohini, DPS Vasant Kunj, and DAV school in Pitampura, along with DPS Noida.

A threat was sent to the high-profile DPS School in Dwarka, with alerts reaching the fire department at 6 a.m. This led to an immediate response from Delhi Police, bomb disposal units, and fire services for a thorough sweep of the premises.

Mother Mary School in East Delhi's Mayur Vihar also received a threatening email, prompting an evacuation and search of the entire campus. This threat was similarly emailed to New Delhi's Sanskriti School, necessitating a full school evacuation.

Similar emails reached DPS Vasant Kunj, and DAV schools in South West and East Delhi. Amity School in Pushp Vihar also received a threatening message at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, indicating the presence of a bomb.

Threats Similar to Delhi Spread to Ahmedabad

Following the pattern seen in Delhi-NCR, schools across Ahmedabad also received threatening emails. These emails contained threats of destruction. Authorities confirmed that after receiving the emails, schools informed the police, leading to rapid deployment of police teams and bomb squads to the threatened schools.

The intimidating emails targeted around seven schools, including DPS Bopal and Anand Niketan. Ahmedabad's emails followed the format seen in Delhi, originating from an international domain. Investigations have commenced to trace the source, though school vacations ease immediate student safety concerns. Nonetheless, due to upcoming Lok Sabha election third phase voting, police remain vigilant and alert.

Efforts to Gather Precise Data from Interpol

Threatening emails to over 200 schools in Delhi-NCR were sent using the Russian mailing service mail.ru. Following this, Delhi Police sought to trace the email origins through Interpol, reaching out to mail.ru. Additionally, a letter was sent to the CBI requesting detailed information via Interpol channels regarding the threatening emails.
