The Delhi government has commenced preparations for the annual Kanwar Yatra, with plans well underway a month and a half in advance. Revenue and Water Minister Atishi reviewed all district DMs and officials to ensure smooth conduct at the pilgrimage camps.

In the sacred month of Sawan, millions of devotees travel to Haridwar to collect holy water. To accommodate this influx, the Delhi government will set up approximately 200 Kanwar camps. Entry points for the pilgrims are designated in East Delhi, Northeast Delhi, and the Shahdara district where the majority of camps will be established.

These camps will be equipped with waterproof tents, furniture, sanitation facilities including toilets, water, and medical provisions to ensure a comfortable stay for the pilgrims. All district administrations have been instructed to take the necessary measures to secure the safety and comfort of the pilgrims. Local dispensaries will be linked to the camps for accessibility, and ambulances will be available for any emergencies. Hospitals are directed to make special arrangements for the medical treatment of the Kanwar yatris.

Revenue Minister Atishi has directed all district magistrates to commence preparations for the camps and provide weekly reports leading up to the event.
