On the last day of nominations for the ward committee and standing committee elections of the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD), candidates from the Aam Aadmi Party, BJP, and Congress filed their nominations. The Aam Aadmi Party has fielded its candidates in 11 zone committees for the ward committee elections.
The Aam Aadmi Party has filed nominations for the election of Chairman, Deputy Chairman, and members of the standing committee for 11 zone committees. AAP leader Mukesh Goyal has claimed that most of the Aam Aadmi Party candidates will win in the elections of the 11 zone committees.
Two Zones Without BJP Candidates
The Bharatiya Janata Party has filed nominations for the Chairman, Deputy Chairman, and standing committee member elections in the zone committees of the Delhi Municipal Corporation. Due to a lower number of candidates, the BJP has not fielded candidates in the SP City Zone and Karol Bagh Zone.
BJP Contesting in 10 Zones
Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Municipal Corporation, Raja Iqbal Singh, stated that the BJP has filed nominations for the election of Chairman, Deputy Chairman, and members of the standing committee in 10 out of the 12 zones of the Delhi Municipal Corporation. The BJP aims to secure victories in these 10 zones.
Congress Fields Candidate in Only 1 Zone
The Congress has also fielded its candidate in the ward committee elections of the Delhi Municipal Corporation. Due to a lower number of candidates, the Congress has filed nominations for the election of Chairman, Deputy Chairman, and standing committee members only in the Shahdara North Zone Committee elections. Zareef has been nominated for the Chairperson position, Nazia for the Deputy Chairperson position, and Sabla Begum for the standing committee member position from the Congress.
