The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has granted permission to RJD leader and former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav to travel to the Maldives from May 17th to May 23rd, 2025. This decision by the court came in response to a petition filed by Tej Pratap seeking permission to travel abroad.

The Rouse Avenue Court ordered the deposit of a bail amount of 2.5 million rupees and instructed Tej Pratap to furnish complete details of his trip to the court. These details must include his place of stay in the Maldives and the contact number he will use while there.

Bail Granted in March

In the case related to the land-for-jobs scam, Tej Pratap Yadav, along with several family members, is also an accused. In March, the Rouse Avenue Court granted bail to Tej Pratap and others, including Hema Yadav, on a personal bond of 50,000 rupees each.

Court Summons Accused

Earlier, in February and March, the court had summoned former Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in connection with the land-for-jobs scam. Special Judge Vishal Gogne had also summoned Lalu Prasad’s son Tej Pratap Yadav and daughter Hema Yadav. In this corruption case, the CBI filed a chargesheet against 78 individuals.

The case revolves around the appointment of Group 'D' employees in the West Central Railway in Jabalpur. According to CBI and witnesses, these appointments were made during Lalu Prasad's tenure as Union Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009, in exchange for plots of land gifted to family members or associates of the RJD supremo. The CBI registered the case on May 18, 2022, against Lalu Prasad, his wife, two sons, two daughters, unnamed government officials, and private individuals.
