The controversy surrounding the bid to remove Anita Singh, wife of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh, from the voter list is escalating. The Election Commission, after thorough investigation, has identified the applications as fraudulent and has directed the Delhi Police to file FIRs against the two accused.
New Delhi constituency's Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), OP Pandey, has lodged a complaint with the SHO of Tilak Marg Police Station regarding the applications related to removing Anita Singh's name from the voter list. It requests FIRs against two applicants who allegedly submitted false information about Anita Singh's residential address through online applications, attempting to deceive election officials.
Police to File FIR Against Applicants
The complaint asserts the need for FIRs against the applicants and urges the police to ascertain the extent of their involvement in the crime, ensuring that appropriate legal actions are taken to prevent future fraudulent activities.
AAP MP Accuses BJP
AAP MP Sanjay Singh and his wife have alleged that an application to remove Anita Singh's name from the New Delhi electoral roll was filed at the behest of the BJP.
Sanjay Singh's Allegations
Sanjay Singh stated that applications were filed on December 24 and 26 to delist his wife Anita from the New Delhi Assembly. He claimed that people were being falsely labeled as Rohingya to remove them from the voter list. He urged BJP's JP Nadda not to engage in electoral fraud, implying that BJP is responsible for purging votes of individuals from Purvanchal and UP Bihar, including that of the MP's wife.
