Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has once again been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). This constitutes the ninth summon for the central agency's questioning scheduled for March 21st. Kejriwal received bail from a Delhi court on the previous summon on Saturday where he did not appear.
The first summons sent to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the agency was on November 2, 2023, but he failed to appear. Since then, the ED has summoned him on November 21, January 3, January 18, February 2, February 19, February 26, and March 4. CM Kejriwal has not appeared for any summons, accusing the central government of misusing the agency. The Aam Aadmi Party and the Chief Minister claim that they are being targeted for arrest by the ED.
After violation of the summons related to the Delhi Liquor Policy scam investigation, the ED had approached the court with two complaints. Following these, CM Kejriwal appeared before the court on Saturday. During a previous hearing, the Chief Minister had appeared before the bench via video conferencing. However, the Rouse Avenue Court ruled that the cases against him were bailable, granting him bail on two surety bonds worth 50,000 rupees.
Six charge sheets have been filed so far in the Delhi Liquor Policy scam case. The agency's sixth indictment named Aam Aadmi Party's former Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and his associate Sarvesh Mishra. It is alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party utilized the ₹45 crores acquired through this policy for the Goa Assembly elections campaign.
In the recent developments of the Delhi Liquor Policy scam case, the ED has arrested BRS leader Kavitha. In addition, Aam Aadmi Party's Sanjay Singh and Manish Sisodia are jailed due to allegations related to the same case. The Aam Aadmi Party claims that the central government has instructed the ED to arrest CM Kejriwal to prevent him from campaigning for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
